New York FFA Foundation News– March 2012
Ford 2N Tractor Raffle raises $16,300
The winning ticket of the Ford 2N tractor raffle was drawn during the NY FFA Alumni Toy Auction on February 24, 2012. The winner of the tractor is Kerry Bell of Fort Ann, NY. Thank you to Tim Havens, of Falls Farm & Garden Equip Co. for hauling the tractor to its new home.
This raffle netted more than any of the 4 previous raffles. Since 2003, nearly $75,000 has been raised through the tractor raffle/restoration program. Many donations have been made over the years to make this a successful fund raiser. Thank you to all who supported this years event. Our next tractor raffle will kick off at Empire Farm Days.
FFA Alumni Toy Auction Success
Nearly 240 items were consigned and 60 items donated to the NY FFA Alumni Farm Toy Auction. President Roger Barkman reports that the Alumni netted $2800 after consignments were paid to support FFA initiatives at the state level. Proceeds from this auction are distributed to support FFA member activities. More than 200 people attended with 85 registering for a bid number. Mark your calendars for the 2013 FFA Alumni Auction set for February 22. Plan to join us for another successful auction at the NY Farm Show.
State Convention Fund Raising Update
The cooperative efforts of the VVS FFA Chapter and the New York FFA Foundation has reached $20,000 in funds raised for the FFA Convention in May, 2012. This effort is allowing the FFA to leverage some of their funds for additional program support. There is still time for donors to get on board. If you know of an organization that should be involved in the State FFA Convention, please pass their information on to Todd Lighthall.
Adiron Ducks Equal Camp Bucks
Ducks are flying out the door headed to FFA chapters all over New York to raise money for summer camp scholarships. 50% of what you raise can be used to pay for Oswegatchie programs in all four seasons of the year. Tips for selling ducks in your communities:
1. Engage Advisory Committee or Chapter Alumni to Assist
2. Make ducks available at chapter events.
3. The FFA Chapter that sells the highest number of ducks this year, will receive a bonus summer campership.
Go to www.adironduckrace.com for more info on how to get involved.
